The Health Education and Health Promotion Unit (Training unit) is one of five units under Technical Bureau of the National Center for Health Promotion. This unit is very important in building capacity of health providers at the national and sub-national levels, as well as non-government organizations. The training provided knowledge, skills and behavior change through used participatory teaching methodologies.

The Health Education and Health Promotion unit (Training Unit) developed a book on Community Health Care Awareness with cooperation of other departments and national centers, supported by WHO, in order to provide accurate health information to all people in Cambodia, and to help them have a healthy lifestyle and improve to access the public health services effectively.

The Health Education and Health Promotion Unit conducts monitoring and supervision to provide technical support for the implementation of clients’ rights and providers’ rights/duty at health centers, andoperational districts of the provincial health departments across the country.

What the Unit Does

The Education and Health Promotion Unit (Training Unit) prepares strategic plans for capacity building, conducts trainings and monitoring for national and sub-national officials on health promotion, participatory training on Minimum Package of Activity (MPA) Module 7 on Health Education. The unit also prepares strategic plans for client’s rights and health care service provider’s rights and obligations to officials at provincial departments of health, operational health offices and health centers with the aim of providing them with knowledge and skills so that health officials and clients effectively implement the client’s rights and health care service provider’s rights and obligations. The Education and Health Promotion Section (Training Unit) has provided trainings to officials at provincial departments of health, operation health offices, health centers and relevant partner organizations about how to use the community health care awareness book and MPA Module 7 activities, as well as integration of check-up and treatment responsibilities for children in the community, behavior change through communications, foundation of health education, planning, monitoring and participatory assessments, and management of community health promotion.
