The National Centre for Health Promotion (NCHP) is the lead agency in promoting healthy behaviours and lifestyles of the Cambodian people. The NCHP is under the direct management of the Ministry of Health. To support our partners through all phases of a Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) process, NCHP staff is organised into 5 teams. These teams are overarching and working to mainstream the BCC work flow process of the centres 5 units which are: Primary health care, Environmental Health and Hygiene, Health Communication, Tobacco or Health, and Health Education and Health Promotion.
The Management Team is responsible for planning campaigns and the daily management of the centre and its activities. The team members also provide strategic guidance to other NCHP working teams. Other core areas of responsibilities include advocacy and coordination of BCC activities, especially through the Behaviour Change Communication Working Group. The members are composed of staff from the NCHP management board, Technical Bureau and Administration and Finance office.
The Training Team is developing practical and inspirational BCC curriculum and materials for training of health promoters and BCC practitioners. This includes MPA module 7 - a two week BCC training course for health centre staff, and a 6 months modular course on BCC for national and provincial health promoters and BCC practitioners. The modular course covers all phases of the BCC cycle from research and planning over production and campaigning to monitoring and evaluation of behaviour change. The team is also responsible for the Health Education & Health Promotion unit.
The Quality BCC Protocol and Guideline Team is developing the centres practical approach to involving BCC partners and participants in development of materials and BCC campaigns. The team is responsible for sharing BCC guidelines with partners and participants and provides them with technical support and advice on BCC materials production and campaigning. The team is also in charge of the Health Communication unit.
The Monitoring & Evaluation team is responsible for developing NCHP’s capacity to undertake solid research into the knowledge, attitudes and practises of participant groups and develops tangible indicators on behaviour change. The team supports BCC partners at provincial level with monitoring and evaluating BCC activities and behaviour change. The team is composed by staff from and is responsible for the Primary Health Care and Tobacco or Health units.
The Information Service Team is responsible for making NCHP’s resources and materials accessible to partners and BCC practitioners at national and provincial level. The team primarily uses the Internet and newsletters for this and is continuously seeking to improve interactive information sharing mechanisms between NCHP and its users and beneficiaries. The team is also responsible for the Environment Health and Hygiene unit and the centres library service.
