About the NCHP

The National Center for Health Promotion (NCHP) of the Ministry of Health composes of 3 bureaus, Technical Bureau, Administration Bureau, and Finance Bureau. Under the Technical Bureau, there are five units and those units are Primary Health Care unit, Training unit, Environmental Health and Hygiene unit, Health Communication unit, and Tobacco or Health Unit. The NCHP creates team work to manage and implement a particular project which needs cross cutting efforts such as a five year Behavior Change Communication Project (BCC) 2004-2010 which supported by EC and UNICEF. In this BCC Project, five teams have been established and those are Campaign team, Training team, Information Service team, Monitoring and Evaluation team, and Management team. In addition, the Behavior Change Communication Technical Working Group (BCC-WG) and Project Steering Committee (PSC), and were established. BCC-WG is chaired by the NCHP and the members of this Working Group are from the national programs, WHO, UNFPA and UNICEF. The main role of the BCC-WG is to discuss and share lessons learnt of the project in regard to technical issues, and propose issues to PCS for recommendations and decision making. PSC is chaired by HE Prof Eng Huot, Secretary of State, Ministry of Health, and Planning, and Health Information Department, Preventive Medicine Department, WHO, UNICEF, EC and UNFPA EC are the members of this committee. PSC has a major role in approving on Annual Workplan of the BCC project, and discussing on key challenges and providing policy directions on implementation of the BCC Project.
